Fencing takes place on a copper strip known as the "piste". To check out the details and specifications click on the piste button below.
The scoring of touches is entirely electronic. In the past fencers were wired to a scoring apparatus which displayed a light when the tip of the weapon was depressed. Recently technological advances have made possible the introduction of "wireless" scoring equipment which eliminates the cumbersome wire which previously trailed behind the fencer, replacing it with a radio signal.
